World Let's Stop Shouting Day 2024 - Nov 6th

2024 FOCUS: Understanding The Neurodivergent Meltdown, Shutdown
& Burnout 6th Nov.

This year’s focus is on raising awareness around the unique challenges faced by neurodivergent individuals, particularly during meltdowns, shutdowns, and burnout.

On November 6th, we come together to celebrate World Let’s Stop Shouting Day, with a dedicated focus on deepening our understanding of the neurodivergent experiences of meltdowns, shutdowns, and burnout.

This day highlights the importance of compassion and awareness, fostering a supportive environment for those who are often misunderstood. Let’s amplify voices, promote acceptance, and create spaces where neurodivergent individuals feel seen, heard, and supported.

Together, we promote non-violent communication through compassion and understanding, encouraging open dialogue and connection, free from judgment or reactivity, where every voice is appreciated and  respected.

Our founding principles.

Highlighting the Impact:

We aim to raise awareness of the profound impact that shouting has on relationships, as well as on both our physical and mental health. The discomfort of being shouted at is something everyone recognises, and the distress it causes those who shout is equally overwhelming.

By emphasising calm, steady communication, we promote better understanding and support for everyone—whether they are parents, therapists, businesses, neurodivergent individuals, families, teachers, carers, teenagers, tweens, or adults.

Cultivating Passionate and Respectful Conversations:

Cultivating Passionate and Respectful Conversations We advocate for passionate, thought-provoking dialogues that drive growth, learning, and the exploration of diverse ideas.

Our aim is to raise awareness of how these discussions can happen without causing anyone to shut down or fostering resentment, which can lead to shouting, aggression, or violence. We recognise that difficult conversations are often necessary, and our goal is to make them more productive and less confrontational.

2

Promoting Non-Violent Communication:

We actively promote non-violent communication by opening up the conversation and providing free resources and strategies for assertive, yet respectful communication.

This includes sharing effective de-escalation techniques and methods to manage aggressive situations without resorting to shouting.

We acknowledge that the pressures and frustrations of everyday life can make it difficult to maintain a steady regulated nervous system, but we firmly believe that there is always a healthier, more constructive way to communicate.

Our aim is to promote better understanding and more supportive environments for neurodivergent communities.
